Nicol still out for Keith / Mackenzie is Strathspey's only absentee Print E-mail
The restoration of battered pride is a primary objective for Keith when they welcome Strathspey Thistle to Kynoch Park on Wednesday evening. The Maroons were hit for three by Formartine United on the same venue at the weekend and are desperate for a response when another of the Highland League's new clubs pays a visit.

Saturday's result saw Keith leapfrogged by Formartine in the league table and they will not want to give up further ground to Clachnacuddin and Turriff United behind them as they both narrowed the gap between themselves and the Maroons to five points with their weekend results. Manager Darren Still said:

"I hope that the players' personal pride will be enough to motivate them after what we all realise was a poor performance by everybody on Saturday and I will certainly be looking for a reaction.

"I have never seen Strathspey play because I was injured when we went up there earlier on in the season so it will be a new experience for me to come across them but I think you can tell by the fact that the beatings they took earlier on in the season have disappeared that they have found their feet at this level so I am certainly expecting a tough game."

The home side still have Gary Nicol on the sidelines as he continues to be a long term absentee but other than that they are hopeful of being at full strength for this match.

Strathspey saw their home game with Deveronvale scheduled for Saturday postponed due to the snowfall and frost in Grantown but are hoping for better luck than their last outing when they lost to a last minute goal against Clachnacuddin. Manager Donly McLeod said:

"Hopefully we can give Keith a good game and it is one I am looking forward to. Formartine beat them 3-0 at Keith on Saturday so if we can play like we did against Clach then we must be in with a shout. They are obviously an established side though and they will be hurting after their result on Saturday and will be looking to make amends against us so it should be a cracking game."

The Jags have midfielder Ross Mackenzie out injured after he suffered a groin strain in the warm up before last Wednesday night's game against Clach but otherwise they are set to travel with a full squad.
