Formartine fire three past Keith to move above Maroons Print E-mail
Keith's first home in 14 weeks, they last played at Kynoch Park on November 14 last year, ended in a bitterly disappointing defeat at the hands of league new boys Formartine United who netted three times in the second half to run our comfortable winners.

Home fans who had seen their side grab a marvellous last gasp win at Forres the previous week, saw the Maroons provide a rather lack lustre shot shy performance which saw them end up well beaten.

Goal chances were at a premium in the first half, although play waved from end to end, but neither goalie was called into much action.  Indeed the nearest anyone came to bulging the old onion bag in that first forty five minutes, was ex Maroons midfielder Barrie Somers, who saw his header clip the top of the crossbar in the 37th minute.

Keith fans, who had almost required SATNAV to find their way to the ground after so long an absence, saw their team come out after the break and be stunned by two quickfire goals.  Four minutes into the half, ex Peterhead striker Andy Bagshaw capitalised on slack defending, firing a low angled shot home from out on the right wing.

Within three minutes, the score-line was doubled when dangerman Bagshaw's snap shot was deflected into the path of Barry Somers, and he made no mistake in gleefully curling the ball beyond the despairing Shearer from 10 yards, to net against his old club.

Keith heads seemed to go down after that, and even the double substitution of Dean Donaldson and Jamie Lennox replacing Gary Harris and Daniel Park had little effect.

However, Lennox did contribute Keith's first shot on target in the 72nd minute, a header which Stewart Gray brilliantly parried round the post.  A minute earlier Derek Nicol cleared off the line for a corner. As the visitors quickly went back on the attack.

With 12 minutes remaining the visitors wrapped up the win in their first ever visit to Kynoch Park as a Highland League Club when new boy Ritchie Singer, a recent signing from Inverurie Locos, cleverly lobbed the ball over Shearer from 15 yards, to complete a day of misery for the home side and a day of delight for the North Lodge club
