New Keith boss Darren Still takes charge of the Maroons for his first home game in charge when they welcome Deveronvale to Kynoch Park. The newest manager on the Highland League circuit had to settle for a draw in his first game in charge at Lossiemouth last week when they shipped a late equaliser. Still's men can climb above Formartine United and Wick Academy in the league table if results go their way this weekend as the Maroons boss looks to land his first win of his management career. He said: "We are certainly looking forward to getting back to playing at Keith. November 14th was the last time we played at home so it has been a long time. It will be a tough game because Deveronvale have a lot of determined characters in their side. I am sure they will be hurting from their home defeat last week. "Deveronvale's away form has been much better and I would certainly expect it to be a typical Keith v Vale game. They are usually hard-fought games between the two sides. As far as we are concerned, we have had a good week of training and we will be looking to take that into Saturday's game." Still welcomes winger Dean Donaldson back into his squad after he served a one-match suspension last week but Derek Nicol - who was also banned for last weekend's match - is on holiday. Iain Good and Gary Nicol remain on the injury list along with Neil Robertson but the latter has been pencilled in to make his return in the Aberdeenshire League against Peterhead this coming Monday. The Vale's title hopes suffered a body blow when they were defeated at home by Fraserburgh last weekend. However, the Banff club have a better away record this season than they do at home and are currently undefeated on the road having won six and drawn two of their eight fixtures. Co-manager Stuart Glennie said: "We were disappointed with the result last weekend. I didn't think either team were great but Fraserburgh were marginally better in the second half. It was poor stuff and we need to bounce back this week. "We have been doing well away from home and not so well at home which is similar to what it was like last season. We just have to keep plugging away and hope that we get their in the end. Teams come to Banff and it is a great surface. At this time of the season, teams look forward to coming and playing good football but we like to play good football as well so that is no excuse. Hopefully our away form can continue this week." Glennie and his co-boss Scott Anderson have Gary McGowan back from suspension but he is out with a knee injury anyway but John Coutts returns after successfully coming through Monday evening's under-21s game. Robbie Brown is suspended though following his red card last Saturday while Gordon Carstairs is still on the sidelines with a long term knee injury. |
